Did you know that Noah took clean animals onto the ark by sevens and unclean animals by twos? Most people believe that all animals were taken onboard the ark by twos, but that’s not the whole story.
Here’s the verse in Genesis 7:2, “You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female….” So the way this is written, it probably means seven pairs of clean animals.
The belief is that God told Noah to take clean animals onboard the ark by sevens because after the flood there would not be enough food available due to the lack of vegetation. The clean animals were also used in the sacrificial system.
This is when the eating of clean meat was authorized by God, long before any Jew existed on the planet (see Genesis 9:3). That’s the second interesting fact about this story; the eating of clean meat was intended for all mankind and not just for the Jewish nation.
The original diet for mankind is explained in Genesis 1:29 and 2:9. God gave us a manual for our bodies and it’s the bible. God created us, so He knows what’s best for us. The original diet in the Garden of Eden was fruits, nuts and grains. Vegetables were added after the fall, see Genesis 3:18. Then clean meats at the flood, Genesis 9:3 (God was referring to clean animals as mentioned in Genesis 8:20 and earlier in 7:2). Now you know the truth about the number of animals taken on the ark and mankind’s original diet in the Garden of Eden.
If you want to know more about what God considered clean and unclean, go to Leviticus 11:2-47 for specific details. Remember, this is not a Jewish thing, it was given to Noah who was not Jewish (hundreds of years before any Jew existed). Specific guidance was given to the Jewish nation in Leviticus but it applies to all mankind. God bless!
