Interesting Bible Fact. Did you know that a rainbow is a symbol of God’s covenant with mankind that He would never again use a flood to destroy the earth?
Genesis 9, verse 13: “I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.”
Verse 14: “It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud;”
Verse 15: “and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh.”
In the bible commentary written by Ellen G. White, she says “…It was God’s purpose that as the children of after generations should ask the meaning of the glorious arch which spans the heavens, their parents should repeat the story of the Flood, and tell them that the Most High had bended the bow and placed it in the clouds as an assurance that the waters should never again overflow the earth (Patriarchs and Prophets, page 106).
The bible is full of interesting stories, historical accounts, and parables, but sadly, most people don’t read their bibles anymore. We encourage you to read your bible daily to find and explore all of these interesting bible facts for yourself.
Speaking of Noah and the flood, was the flood real or just a story? Watch the video below produced by one of my favorite pastors, Stephen Bohr. He’s deep (detailed study) so you’ll want to have a notepad and something to write with while watching him because you’ll want to go back and review this study.
